  1. INTERCEPT A BOMBING RAID ON REGENSBURG
  2.  
  3. Big Week saw the Eighth Air Force
  4. concentrate its forces on the destruc-
  5. tion of the German fighter aircraft 
  6. industry.  From Feb. 19th to 25th, 1944 
  7. the bombers of the Eighth flew 3,300 
  8. sorties and unloaded 6,000 tons of 
  9. bombs.  The combined efforts of the 
  10. USAAF and RAF Bomber Command during
  11. this week dealt a devastating blow to
  12. Luftwaffe fighter production.  However,
  13. the German dispersal program, put into
  14. practice after the heavy raids in the
  15. summer of 1943, helped to nullify the
  16. effects of the damage somewhat.  The
  17. Germans had also become quite adept at
  18. salvaging machinery from the wreckage
  19. of their demolished factories.

  23. On the fifth and final day of the
  24. Allies' "Big Week", one of their
  25. targets is the Messerschmitt factory at
  26. Regensburg.  As a formation of B-17s
  27. approaches the target area, you and
  28. three other Focke-Wulf 190s are in
  29. position to intercept the Americans. 
  30. The three Bf 109s flying with you will
  31. attack the Mustang escorts.
